Daddy's Not Feeling Well

After five days off, my husband returned to work today and he was not feeling well. Before heading out the door this morning he had a fever of over 101 (F) and grabbed an Ibuprofen to go. For today's activity I read the super cute story How Are You Peeling by Saxton Freymann and Joost Elffers.

Then we made daddy a "Peel better soon" card:

Robby was "reading" it to ensure it had the right amount of sentiment:
 (Sorry for the sideways picture)
Then Robby got to explore some fruits and veggies, including a lemon, potato, onion, and [not pictured] a banana and celery:

We finished off the activity with some yummy apples!

Sea Creatures and Water Play

After dinner on Monday I read A Xylophone for X-Ray Fish by Liza Charlesworth. This book is part of Scholastic's Alpha Tales set, which I obtained while teaching preschool and saving points that are given when parent's order books for their children from the company.
Sadly I do not have a xylophone but I do have small bath sea creatures:
Robby was fine with just the sea animals but then I brought out the water jug and his eyes lit up.
I'm thankful he had his shirt off, but I was too slow in putting down newspaper for the splashing that was to follow:

He loved getting squirt by the sea animals and we had fun making them swim on his tray.

New Year, New Task

New Years Eve I boggled for a bit as to what I'll do for my blog. I have a hard time sticking to this thing, which is a shame. I decided that every day I will read a new story to my son, who will be one on January 20th, and follow it up with a toddler friendly activity. Sunday was a busy day so our book and activity were last minute and quick because our little guy was very tired.
My husband read Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

Then we went around the bedroom saying goodnight to some objects. This included the moon:
 and the lamp:

I hope to continue this journey everyday with the purpose of promoting early childhood reading and easy toddler activities.
